London Marathon - here I come!

Well as you can tell, keeping a diary isn't my strongest talent! Problem is, I read several fellow runners blogs which are excellent (I'm not going to name them - they're already too big headed!) and I'm not a natural talent at story telling. Much has occurred in the last 6 months for me, both running wise and home life! Running has been going well. No major physical problems anyway. On a personal front, our 3 year old (soon to be 4 - she keeps a daily countdown of how many sleeps before she becomes a big girl of 4!!) daughter Lily was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF1). That kind of rocked me and the wife a little I won't lie. What it led to was a bit crazy. I was feeling a tad useless about the whole situation - so I asked The Neuro Foundation if I could run the London Marathon on their behalf, which unfortunately they agreed to. I only needed to raise £2000.... After much consulting with the wife and several staff at work on the feasibility of such a go...

I haven't run at all in nearly 3 weeks! This follows on from a failed attempt at joining my local running club. I went to my first ever session which was a Tuesday night session; speed work. I'd never done a speed session but this was one of the reasons I wanted to join a club. The only speed work I'd done had had nothing to do with running! Anyway, that was a good session & the people were nice  (I'm amazed at how nervous I was about them being potentially awful..picking on the new kid when the teacher wasn't looking!) The following Sunday I popped along to their club LSR. I got there just as they were about to head out. They asked what distance I was currently covering & I said 8 miles(ish) "Great. You can go with these guys. The others will be doing 5 miles" Like a complete (k)nob , off I bound like a lunatic. It was all of 10 secs before I thought "bugger me this is fast!" Obviously I wasn't going to say anything so I just carrie...
